Welcome 5th graders,

The next several days will be project work days. 

Today I'd like you to decide on the math skill/lesson for which you will be creating a resource and plan out what your resource will include.  I will provide a sign up sheet for this. I also encourage you to use your math notebook to draft out your plans - that way the planning documents won't get lost.

Happy Friday 5th graders!

Wow....what a busy week we've had.  I hope everyone feels like they've accomplished a lot.

Some updates about next week.....

Monday we will look over the SAS testing system so that the testing format looks familiar
Tuesday.....FIELD TRIP  😀
Wednesday ..... Reading Assessment with shortened blocks
Thursday ......Writing Assessment with shortened blocks
Friday ..........Science Assessment with shortened block
 Because of the shortened blocks we will spend multiple blocks practicing skills in Lesson 10 and working with partners to build our mathematical thinking.

As you may have noticed I don't mention the math test....that is because it is on Monday, May 13th.  That is the last day of assessments with shortened blocks.

Today our goal is to compare and evaluate expressions with parenthesis.

Today we continue with Lesson 8 and work to refine our understanding of finding a fraction of a whole number using our understanding of multiplication.  Remember....as I said yesterday....if you prefer to use a model, it is fine to continue with that approach.
